Jumpstarting Your API Strategy to Grow Your Business »

From discovery to development to launch, enterprise customers face similar issues when building out their APIs. From best-practices in API design to infrastructure and security concerns, to monetization models and go-to-market strategy, to developer adoption and partnerships, we're learned a lot from our work with over 150 companies successfully offering APIs.

We've got a new whitepaper out called "Leveraging APIs to Grow Your Business," written by API experts from Credera and Apigee. It'll give you a framework for leveraging your existing assets with APIs and addresses the top business and technical issues for bootstrapping your program.

Topics include:

  • What is an API?
  • How do the three types of APIs grow your business?
  • How do you drive business success with APIs?
  • What are 3 rules for getting started now?
  • Is there an "API Cookbook" for getting started?

For more best practices and advice, check out our resources page, and let us know how we can help you!

Where will your customers be this Christmas? »

Keith Morrow has a great article on TechTarget series on how an API can create a disruptive impact on a retailer's ability to reach customers beyond traditional web browser channels.

One key point is that an API can be driven by a relatively small team.

Yet an API has a disproportionate impact on the business, and this impact scales with low marginal costs.

This can be an especially effective strategy for retailers that might live in world of thin margins, limited resources, and the constant pressure of the peak holiday season.

For more on Keith's retail API experience, we commissioned him to write a Retail 2.0 API Strategy whitepaper discussing Retail API opportunities, challenges of launching with tight resources, and best practices.

Telco API Management whitepaper with Alan Quayle »

Why aren't Web developers adopting Telco APIs?

We recently teamed up with Alan Quayle on a new Telco API Management whitepaper that discusses issues around API management adoption issues specific to telcos.

As Alan points out, APIs have been fundamental to telcos for a long time- even the first switch in 1878 exposed an interface for people to make requests to set up telephone calls.

But because Telco APIs aren't usually presented in a web-centric way, developers have been slow to adopt them vs. some of the other Web APIs.  Telcos need to adapt by making their APIs, tools and processes simpler and more suited to serving much larger numbers of web developers than before.

We'd love your feedback, you can download the whitepaper here.
